This interview was printed in Trud two days prior to the UN vote condemning Trump decision to move the US Embassy to Jerusalem. Unfortunately, Bulgaria voted condemning the US decision. Romania, Poland, Hungary and others chose to abstain. Bulgaria could have followed their example. I remember President Stoyanov reversed in the middle of a UN vote, that time condemning Israel, from supporting the EU decision into abstaining. Evidently, we the Israelis did not use our sources and missed an opportunity, or the strength of the “Duners” was far more impactive.
The title of the interview is that “Israelis are longing for Bulgaria“, if printed two days later I would have recommend a change of title to reflects the new reality, “Bulgaria prefers Duners” (associated in Bulgaria with the Arab community).
